Tour the grounds of Virginia's biggest winery, the Williamsburg Winery, where every year around 60,000 cases of wine are produced. Begun in 1985, the winery started off strong with its still-renowned Governor's White wine, a blend of whites that is known for being fruity and semi-dry. Take a guided tour of the winery, surrounded by 50 acres of vineyards, and learn about the practices of viticulture and oenology that have helped Williamsburg Winery make a name for itself. End the visit with a tasting of a number of the vineyard's fine wines and pick up a bottle or three in the store. Located just south of the Williamsburg Jamestown Airport outside of town, the winery is not far from the Golden Horseshoe Golf Course and the College of William and Mary.
Tours run Apr - Oct: Mon. - Sat. 10:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; Sun. 11:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.; Nov - Mar: Mon. - Sat. 10:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.; Sun. 11:30 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
